Marta Renzi

Marta Renzi

Marta Renzi has made dances since 1976, for her own Project Company, as well as for numerous professional, college and youth companies in the U.S. and abroad. She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Trust for Mutual Understanding, as well as a "Bessie" (the New York Dance & Performance Award). Marta has collaborated in theater with William Finn, Andre Gregory, Tom Hulce, Barnet Kellman and Cecil MacKinnon. She has also created several dance films, including two half hour videodances for PBS; her short PORCH STORIES was filmed in North Adams last year, and was a finalist in the Moondance International Film Festival. Marta delights in making dances for unusual situations, such as a corporate gala at the Guggenheim Museum and Ben & Jerry's Dancing Flavors. She has served on the board of the New York Foundation for the Arts, Dancing in the Streets, and New England Foundation's "Building Community Through Culture", and has taught internationally through the Linkages Program of the American Dance Festival. Committed to presenting dance outdoors for free, Renzi helped inaugurate the Inside/Out Program at Jacob's Pillow, and has made frequent appearances at Central Park Summerstage where last summer her retrospective REUNION, was created to celebrate its 25th anniversary season.
