Williams College Theatre Department seeks a Scenic Designer for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in fall, 2009. Senior appointment is possible in exceptional circumstances.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a strong commitment to the continued development of a rigorous theatre program at a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts institution. They should be able to demonstrate artistic excellence in Scenic Design. The promise of distinction as a teacher of design for undergraduates, and the expectation of continued professional/artistic development are also essential. MFA or PhD in Theatre or related field (by time of appointment), or equivalent professional experience is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities will include designing productions for the department season in the varied spaces of the College’s new Center for Theatre and Dance, teaching introductory and advanced courses, mentoring students in design and production projects, and serving as a collaborative member of the department’s production team.
