Facilities
In the Spring of 2005, we moved into the new mulit-theatre '62 Center for Theatre & Dance, which provides state-of-the-art performance and rehearsal space, as well as classroom, studio, and shop facilities for our curricular and production activities. With the opening of this Center, we began an exciting new chapter in Theatre at Williams, allowing for new collaborations with Dance, Music, and other arts, as well as intensifying our already vigorous commitment to bringing vibrant and challenging theatrical art to the Williams community.
Directing Studio
The Directing Studio located on the ground floor of the Center is a 40ft x 40ft double height teaching and performance studio. With a sprung, hardboard surfaced floor, lighting grid and open floor plan it serves well as a venue for both acting and directing classes and small performances, works in progress, or meeting space for up to 50 people/audience members.
Acting/Dance Studio
The Acting/Dance Studio, located adjacent to the main Dance Studio on the 2nd floor, is a 43ft x 38ft single height studio intended for rehearsals and classes in movement and acting. The sprung hardboard surfaced floor is well suited for both tap and step activities. With a mirrored wall and generous windows, the room is not outfitted as a performance venue.
