Professor Baker-White has worked at the American Repertory Theatre, Seattle Rep, Empty Space Theatre, Playwright's Platform, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival. After completing his doctorate, he taught in and directed the theatre program at Trinity University in San Antonio and, most recently, at Georgetown University, where he coordinated design and program development for a new mid-campus Performing Arts Center. Baker-White's research interests include 20th-century Continental and American playwriting, theories of rehearsal and performance, and eco-critical approaches to modern drama. He has published widely on contemporary theatre in leading national and international academic journals. His recent book, "The Text in Play: Representations of Rehearsal in Modern Drama" investigates the rehearsal process in light of contemporary critical theory. Baker-White has directed more than 40 productions in academic and professional theater, including performances of Shakespeare, Greek classics, and modern and contemporary plays. He has served on the editorial boards of several national journals.
