Discussion with Prof. Allen Kuharski hosted by Prof. Omar Sangare
At this gathering, open to the Williams community, we will discuss and celebrate the current Williams Theatre production of “Princess Ivona” with Professor Allen Kuharski, the Chair and Stephen Lang Professor of the Performing Arts at Swarthmore College.
Of particular importance, Professor Kuharski is a co-editor of the ongoing sixteen-volume Polish edition of the complete works of Polish playwright Witold Gombrowicz. The Williams College Theatre Department’s production of Princess Ivona, directed by Professor Omar Sangare, will be performed March 12-14 at 7:30pm in the Adams Memorial Theatre at the ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance. Professor Kuharski has been a professor at Swarthmore College since 1990 and has also taught at the University of California Berkley and in the graduate program in theatre at Villanova University. His articles and reviews have been widely and internationally published. In recent years, Professor Kuharski has given lectures at Yale University, Harvard University, and UCLA. In 2002, he received the Order of Merit in Polish Culture; in 2006, he was given the Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz Award by the Polish chapter of the International Theatre Institute/UNESCO.
